Boat #42, Amos Visits Korea
Last week Erin and I were pleasantly surprised when a package arrived in the mail with 4 copies of A Sick Day for Amos McGee printed in Korean. Our Korean publisher did a wonderful job hand-making the cover type to mimic Erin's original woodcut type. Nicely done!
It's fascinating how the Korean characters cast their soft spell over the entire image, and how easily the artwork lends itself to that influence. The cover is completely harmonious -- I'm not saying it looks better than with English (Roman) letters, but there's something very unified about the impact of the Korean typeface with the art.
